Students must be aged between 14 and 17 and have a minimum English language level of B1 (Independent User). School stays are suitable for ambitious and highly motivated students who wish to attend a State Secondary School in Ireland for the September to Christmas term.

Before Arrival

The school year in Ireland is approximately nine months long, from September to June. It is divided into three terms; The DELS High School Placement Programme welcomes students  for the first term.

Term 1: September to December

Government public schools are available to EU citizens only. Students can enroll for the term from September to Christmas, with transition year (TY) being the most popular choice.

Magh Ene

Magh Ene College is a small inclusive state owned secondary school located in south Donegal which has 350 students It provides Junior Cycle, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programmes. Sport and Performing Arts are embedded in the culure of the school. They believe in offering a progressive academic curriculum as well as an extensive range of extra and co curricular activities which promote the holistic development of our students.

Coláiste Colmchille

olaiste Colmchille is a medium sized state, co-educational and multi demotional school with 700 students. Students at Colaiste Colmchille thrive in both academic learning and personal development in a safe environment. Students are not allowed to leave school at lunchtime. A healthy lunch is provided for students in the school.

The school has excellent facilities, including teaching and learning facilities, technology facilities and sports facilities. Football, soccer, basketball and athletics are provided. Students actively participate in local and national debate, drama and music competitions and have won numerous national awards.

Abbey Vocational School

bbey Vocational School is a large state, co-educational and multi-denominational school with 1000 students. The school is committed to the five core values of: Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Respect and Community. Their student-centred approach is reflected in all that they do. It is to be found in the broad and comprehensive curriculum they offer to suit the academic needs of all students. Student advisors

At DELS we have a dedicated Student Welfare and Activity Advisor to look after the students welfare and an Academic Manager to consult and support the students academic progress.

Regular meetings and check in’s

• DELS welfare and activity advisor meets with the student regularly to discuss social integration, living arrangements, and forthcoming activities and excursions they can join.
• DELS academic manager meets the student on arrival to assess their goals and objectives and once every month to review their academic progress

Detailed Progress Reports

• The academic manager writes a comprehensive report each month after each one-to-one meeting and provides insights into academic achievements and a support system for further progress.

• The DELS welfare and activity advisor will be the direct contact with parents and will advise on a regular basis on how their child is progressing, ensuring a supportive, child-centered framework.
