Bundoran is well connected to Dublin Airport by bus. We also offer a private airport transfer, included at no extra charge for groups of 15+ junior students.

For smaller groups or individuals on summer programmes, our shared transfer service runs 11am–6pm. Please contact us for fees.

Donegal English Language School is located in the town of Bundoran, a stunning, seaside location on the Wild Atlantic Way.

The summer camp at DELS is designed for individuals and groups who wish to travel to Ireland with the overall goal of improving their English language ability while at the same time providing them with an action-packed activity and cultural programme. There are four programme options: English and Surfing, English and Horse Riding, Atlantic Explorers and English and Multi-Activity. Students can choose either residential or host accommodation.

In addition to the daytime activity included in their chosen programme, students will have a range of rotating evening activities with our coordinators. These include a range of Irish cultural activities including Irish Dancing, GAA or ‘Irish football’ and even traditional jewellery-making workshops.

Our Junior and Mini Stay programmes are suitable for students aged 12-17. Some exceptions can be made for under 12 or 18-year-old who is accompanied by a sibling or part of a group. But 12 to 17 are the best ages.

A short-term English and activity programme designed for groups—such as school classes or youth language groups—combining English lessons with a week of Irish cultural activities over 6 or 7 nights.

Mini-stay periods run February–June and September–November.

Our programmes are all-inclusive with no hidden extras: 15 hours of English tuition, 5 activities, accommodation, airport transfers, meals, an evening activity, and a full-day excursion, supported throughout by our team.

Yes—a weekly Saturday excursion to locations around Donegal and beyond, such as the Slieve League cliffs, Queen Meabh’s grave, Parkes Castle, or Derry City.

We teach junior students of all levels, from absolute beginner through to proficiency.

Summer Camp students complete an English-level test on their first day and are placed accordingly. Mini Stay group teachers send student levels in advance so placement is arranged before arrival.

Classes run for 3 hours each morning or afternoon (timing depends on level and activity schedule), set in our Georgian building overlooking the Atlantic.

All of our teachers are either Native English speakers or have Native-level English skills in line with CEFR C2 requirements. They also are CELTA -qualified with years of experience teaching and possess at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree.

We use Project-Based Learning: students work on a real-world problem or question at their level, then present their findings to a real audience—building content knowledge alongside critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills.

On average, there are 12 students per class with a maximum of 15.

Small class sizes, beginner-level lessons, and interactive activities that build vocabulary and speaking confidence from day one.

Students can stay in our on-site Junior residential centres, Surfer’s Bay, Casa or Zephyr which are all within walking distance of the school or through our Homestay programme with carefully selected local families.

Residential students eat in our on-site canteen, which serves fresh meals made with locally grown produce from local businesses and our very own polytunnel. Homestay students enjoy home-cooked Irish meals prepared by their host families.

We do our best to accommodate any dietary requirement or allergy. Let us know at the application stage so we can advise on support.

Your child’s safety is our top priority. Residential accommodation is secure, comfortable, and supervised, with first aid kits on-site and a trained first aid coordinator or qualified staff member always available. Bundoran itself is a small, welcoming seaside town known for its safe, friendly community.

Bundoran has a Health centre and two pharmacies. Bundoran is well connected to Sligo which has the nearest hospital, a short 30-minute drive away.

Yes. Student Coordinators are present daily, accompanying students to and from activities and classes. Summer Camp Night Coordinators provide round-the-clock supervision, so a responsible adult is always available.

With 36 years of operation, we have well-developed policies for every eventuality, always erring on the side of caution.

Yes. Residential students can use phones between 5:15pm–10pm on weekdays, and throughout the weekend. Host family students have phone access in the evenings and on weekends (occasionally also during class for learning activities).

We don’t pause for bank holidays, but local public holidays or community events may occasionally affect the schedule. Any changes are communicated to parents/guardians in advance, with fun alternatives provided where needed.

We offer a range of adult English classes and activity packages, from General English to surfing, nature reset, horse riding, exam intensive, one-to-one, business English, work experience , Erasmus programmes or a combination programme.

Beginner to pre-intermediate students are taught one-to-one only — we don’t currently offer suitable group courses at this level.

Flexible—from a minimum of one week to long-term programmes lasting several months to a year.

We have two adult self-catering accommodations, Casa del Mar and Zephyr Lodge. Adults can also choose from a host family full-board option.

Lessons are based on current, well-established English Language Teaching methodologies, namely Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Dogme, (dealing with emergent language). The aim of this is to maximise student exposure to real-life English. The curriculum is designed to bring a holistic approach to learning, so students have the skills and resources to develop their skills outside the classroom and through the rest of their lives.

If you have an EU passport, you do not need a visa to attend DELS. If you are from a non-EU country, you may need a visa. Please check the visa requirements for Ireland based on your nationality by consulting the official guidelines in your home country.

We create a friendly, inclusive environment where students mix through group activities, classes, and social events. Our programmes are designed to encourage communication, teamwork, and friendship across cultures, with staff on hand to support students every step of the way.

County Donegal is scenic and safe, with mild summer temperatures (13–25°C). As a coastal location, weather can be unpredictable, so we recommend packing a rain jacket—we’ve a good mix of indoor and outdoor activities for whatever the weather brings.

Informal resolution — raise your concern with any staff member for a quick fix.

Escalation—bring the matter to the Academic Manager or Camp Supervisor.

Formal written complaint—submit in writing to the Academic Manager or Camp Supervisor.

School management review—the General Manager reviews and attempts to resolve the complaint.

External review—if still unresolved, you may refer the complaint to an external body such as English Education Ireland or IALC.
